A Friends Trial character will only be able to play on their Origin World, Capital World, at the Fleet, a Warzone, and in their first Flashpoint. A message box will appear if a Friends Trial character attempts to go outside these areas.
A Friends Trial character will not be able to use general chat, trade chat, or PvP chat. The character will only be able to use local chat, group chat, guild chat, whisper and responses to whispers.
A Friends Trial character will not be able to send or reply to mail from other trial characters. However, your character will be able to receive in-game mail during the trial.
A Friends Trial character will not be able to us the Galactic Trade Network or trade with other players.
A Friends Trial character will only be able to level their Crew Skills ranking to 40.
A Friends Trial character will never gain Legacy XP. The Legacy system allows player to share high-level abilities among different characters on the same account.

How long do my friends have to redeem their seven (7) day free trial?
You friends have 14 days after they are accepted into the Friends Trial program to take advantage of the seven (7) day free trial. To indicate that your friend(s) have been accepted to the Friends Trial, your friend’s email address will populate above the referral form within “My Account”. At the same time, an automated email will be sent to your friend telling them they have been accepted to the Friends Trial program.

How do I invite three (3) of my friends to a seven (7) day free trial as part of the Friends of Star Wars: The Old Republic program?
The form to invite your friends can be accessed from the My Account >> Friends Trial page on www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com. Simply, login to your SWTOR account, click “My Account” in the upper right hand corner of the window and click “Friends Trial” from the right hand menu. Once on the Friends of Star Wars: The Old Republic Trial page, read the directions and fill out the form as directed. If your friend has been accepted to the program, their name and email address with some characters asterisked out will populate above the form. This indicates that an automated email has been sent to your friend’s email address with your personal message inviting them to play Star Wars: The Old Republic for a seven (7) day trial.

Will my friend’s character get deleted after the free trial experience?
No, there are currently no plans to delete characters created as part of the Friends of Star Wars: The Old Republic Trial. Should your friend decide to purchase the Game, their trial characters will still be on their account. We do however reserve the right to delete trial characters on abandoned trial accounts without notice.

When will my friend be notified that their trial experience has ended?
Your friend will be notified that their trial experience has ended at the conclusion of seven (7) consecutive 24-hour periods after the installation of the trial. An email from Star Wars: The Old Republic will be sent to your friend notifying them that their trial is over. The trial will also end if your friend redeems a product registration code, activates a subscription, or enters a game time code before the trial period has ended.

What steps do my friends have to take in order to redeem the seven (7) day free trial?
When your friend receives their email invitation for a seven 7-day free trial, they will be prompted to create an account on www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com. An account verification email will be sent to the email address they provided and they will be directed to create a password. After this, your friend will be placed on their My Account page and asked to enter their contact information and between three (3) and five (5) secret security questions.
Once the account creation process is complete, they will see a “Download the Game” button and “Start Trial Now” button highlighted. Your friend must click the “Download the Game” button to begin the game installation and download process. Once the installation and downloading process is complete, they must click the “Start Trial Now” button to get into the Game and begin their personal Star Wars™ saga.

How do I know if my friend is eligible for the free trial?
Your friends may be eligible to participate in the Friends of Star Wars: The Old Republic Trial if they DO NOT already have a Star Wars: The Old Republic account associated with their email address. If your friends received an invitation as part of this program in the past, they will not be able to take advantage of your referral. If your friend’s email address is not “valid”, you will be notified and/or sent an error message when you attempt to send the Friends Trial email invitation.

What is the Friends of Star Wars: The Old Republic Trial?
The Friends of Star Wars: The Old Republic Trial is an opportunity offered to current, active players that have passed at least one billing cycle, to invite three (3) of your friends that have never played Star Wars: The Old Republic to participate in a seven (7) day free trial.
