Aqui os copy & paste (en inglés) del preview de la nueva flash point de la 1.2

During the second day of the Guild Summit, we were lucky enough to get hands-on time with the new Flashpoint – Lost Island. In the Flashpoint, players will have to make their way through Doctor Lorrick’s base on Ord Mantell and defeat his creations along the way for the opportunity to defeat him. Lost Island will be available to the fans when patch 1.2 hits the Public Test Server. However, if you do not have time to check it out on the PTS ahead of its deployment on the live servers, we have information about the Flashpoint packed to the brim after the jump.
Story
As this Flashpoint is part two of a continuing plot line, the story picks up right where the first left off. Players are in pursuit of Doctor Lorrick, who is now held up inside of his massive compound on Ord Mantell. Along the way, the player’s team will face the many horrors and creations of Doctor Lorrick and his staff. The Flashpoint does include several points of interest along the way in the form of holorecords that unravel the story for players as they venture further into the base. Without spoiling the story of the Flashpoint, it is fair to say that Doctor Lorrick’s minions do not necessarily agree with him.
After putting down Doctor Lorrick’s various creations and station defenses, the insertion team will face down the doctor one last time. The discovery of what he has become in his pursuit for power demands that his quest must end. With your team’s help, it will.
Boss Fights
For the purposes of this preview, we will only discuss the mechanics of the Story Mode version of the Flashpoint. BioWare mentioned that harder difficulty levels would have mechanics that differ from the Story Mode in the patch.
The Flashpoint kicks off rather early in an effort to teach players that they need to use area of effect abilities to survive certain encounters. Several mini-bosses along the way, such as the Flutterplume that spawns packs of enemies, reinforce this rather quickly. Players will face a similar mechanic during a later droid fight. The first boss encounter is Putrid Shay Klaw, which aside from the few adds that need to be killed, is a standard tank and spank fight. There is also nothing special about the enemies surrounding him, players just need to take them down and return to the boss.
Further into the Flashpoint, the player’s team will start to face Doctor Lorrick’s main forces that consist of droids and squads of elite troops. This is where players will face a second encounter, the LR-5 Sentinel Droid. As mentioned before, this fight requires a fair amount of AoE in order to complete it. The tank in the group will have to guide the boss around the outside of the fight area as the boss lays down ever-expanding electricity death zones. The timing of the zones dropped varies depending on the difficulty level and as far as the Story Mode is concerned, is rather easy to avoid. On top of the zones, the boss will call out several groups of enemies during the fight that players will have to AoE down quickly near the boss to survive.
These add groups also often target the healer so a DPS with some AoE might want to grab them and pull them to the boss to receive the brunt of the group’s damage. On story mode, the amount of health on the adds is not much but can be dangerous to a healer. Beyond that, players that can interrupt should do so as it can help mitigate a large portion of the damage that the boss puts out. After the fight is over, players continue to find holorecords of Doctor Lorrick’s staff as they proceed.
At this point during the Flashpoint, players will happen upon several engagement triggers that the group will want to take note of and allow the tank to venture ahead of the team. The third and possibly most humorous encounter to figure out is Project Savrik, a very large mantellian sarvip. Located across a bridge, players will fight this boss on a platform. The platform has several terminals the team will have to activate at key points during the fight in order to damage it. There are only two things needed to complete the fight – players must group up directly under him when he alerts of his impending jump/smash and use the terminals when he is on top of the chambers. The further away the group is from him, the further away they will be thrown.
The key is to stand directly under him. If done correctly, it should throw players straight up into the air instead of off the platform. Repeating this and pressing the terminal he is above a few times will lead to his defeat. It is a fairly straightforward fight on Story Mode. The fourth and last boss is Doctor Lorrick himself. The fight is a bit similar to the droid fight except that there are three phases. In the first, the Doctor will throw gas bombs that players will want to avoid. The doctor will also proceed to activate several bacta tanks that can be taken down before activation. If for whatever reason players are unable to take them down in time, the add that will exit the tank will have the amount of health remaining on the tank. The group will want to DPS down the adds that exit the bacta tank as quickly as possible as the group’s tank kites the boss around the room.
Once the party takes down the adds, phase two will begin, which is primarily a tank and spank with the exception that he will randomly target and lock down a person with a non-interruptible channel. The healer of the group will want to quickly mend that player as they will take significant damage from the ability. During this phase, the Doctor will also throw grenades in a cone and hit people multiple times if they are in the affected area. The DPSers and Healer will want to stay behind the boss at all times in this phase because of this. The third and final phase is a soft enrage. Doctor Lorrick will continuously excrete toxic gas that will cause the party to take an increasing damage over time tick throughout the rest of the fight. This DOT will also cause the party’s damage to increase as well. At this point, all players should do is burn him down as quickly as possible.
Healing is not a huge focus for this phase, as it will eventually become impossible to heal through. It is however a rather easy portion of the fight, so if the group makes it this far with a high health pool, they should be fine (on story mode). On a final note, a bonus boss also makes its appearance in this Flashpoint and can be rather challenging. Instead of spoiling the bonus encounter, I will leave it to all of you to figure out.
Final Thoughts
The story arc of Kaon Under Siege wraps up nicely with a fair amount of story behind the Lost Island Flashpoint. BioWare seems to be improving the telegraphing of boss encounters, which is apparent with Lost Island. This Flashpoint, with relatively traditional fights, should offer a lot of fun and challenge for players. The promise of different mechanics on the higher difficulties should also play into that as I look forward to delving into them once 1.2 hits the live servers. I thoroughly enjoyed this Flashpoint and I am interested in hearing your thoughts for those who get hands on time with it on the PTS soon.
